Receptionist
Overall Role
Assist in the provision of dental care services to patients. To promote the practice by delivering top quality administrative services and patient care procedures to ensure maximum contribution to patient comfort and the practice's profitability, in line with GDC guidelines and practice policies.
Specific Tasks
Dental Receptionists are required to work as part of a dental team.
The team role is as follows:
- To welcome patients and visitors referring them to the appropriate areas
- To notify clinicians of patient’s arrival
- Review adherence to schedule
- To provide a communication link between clinicians and patients
- To promote the practice, its services to patients and the local community
- To anticipate patient’s anxieties, answer questions, and maintain an orderly reception area
- To arrange appointments in person or by telephone
- To enter and retrieve patient data, including recalls, while maintaining confidentiality
- Receive and redirect all incoming calls as appropriate
- Monitor the hazard warning systems and notify the appropriate person of occurrences
- To calculate and collect patient charges
- To respond to emergencies in line with practice policy
- To maintain the reception area in a welcoming and pleasing way
- To perform related duties necessary to maintain an exceptional standard of patient care
- To do monthly checks on emergency kits
- To do monthly birthday cards for patients
