My lovely dog, Pearl (well I couldn’t call her ‘Molar’ or ‘Canine’ could I?) has a number of wonderful assets.
Apart from having a fabulous sense of humour, well honed interpersonal skills, the athleticism of something big and springy, and a razor-sharp mind, she’s also an exceptional marketing tool.
Pearl is a Large Munsterlander, a breed not extensively known in the UK. She (and other Munsties) look rather like a large, black and white springer. One of their identifying features is a love of yoghurt. She is by my own admission, very distinctive and very pretty. However I am bemused why other walkers or runners know my dog. Case in point: coming down from Hampsfell this morning two delightful ladies were having a mug of tea and a shortbread biscuit (Booths notice detail such as biscuit type…). Their two lovely dogs were making friends with mine, and all of a sudden one of the ladies asked me if it really were ‘Pearl The Munsterlander’. I hadn’t told the lady Pearl’s name, or that she were a Munsterlander. The conversation progressed, and it transpires that the lady knew that I were in dentistry, where I lived and several other details about me and Pearl. I’m quite sure she wasn’t a Derek Acorah type, but it was a bit odd…
This isn’t the first time this has happened. On another fell a few weeks ago, two walkers were waiting at a gate, obviously looking to stop and chat to Pearl. They greeted her by name, and again I was rather bemused. I asked how they knew her name, and they couldn’t tell me, just that they knew there was a Large Munsterlander in the area (what? Like a Big Cat?) and knew their dogs so put two and two together and got Pearl. Again, subsequent dental conversation followed.
All this recognition of Pearl business got me thinking. Can there be any link with this and dentistry, as after a doggy conversation, a dental conversation followed in these incidents.
So here’s my Einstein bit. At Total Dental, we like people who like people (and people who like dogs !!!). We like people who spend time with other people and who have an appreciation of good quality (we picked Pearl and her Aunty Ruby because a vet told us that Munsterlanders were fine quality dogs).
We are always pleased to meet more people who think they will like us, perhaps through recommendation through a friend. And of course, a chat is always a pleasure for us, and with our compliments. You can be absolutely assured that you will find the quality of our service and care second to none.
Pearl is always pleased to meet people with shortbread biscuits or a yoghurt (or both).
